I still have Jon’s contact information in my cell phone. It keeps his memory alive for me. I make sure it transfers to every new cell I get.
Things Daddy Loved: DILBERT
Jennet Dickinson: On Mr. Halle at swim meets
Sam: On Price Club trips

Back in the day, when Costco was known as “Price Club,” Daddy created his go-to “Price Club drink.”
Once a month or so, I’d tag along on one of his routine stock-up trips. As soon as he flashed his Costco Card badge, he’d make a pit stop at the food court where he’d get a drink cup to fill with his shopping fuel. Thanks to our many Costco trips, he had perfected his Ice-to-Sprite-to-Pink-Lemonade ratio. You may think I’m exaggerating, but this really was a scientific process for him (he’d carefully pour out ice, drink and start again as necessary). In fact, it was only in my later years that I gained enough trust to refill his drink!
Jeff Wright: On Uncle Jon’s riddles
When I was little your dad used to tell me riddles. The only one I specifically remember went like this: There’s a cabin in the woods. All the windows and doors are sealed shut and everyone inside is dead. How did they die?
Sam: On the man (and voice) behind the camera
Whether through photos or videos, daddy loved documenting family milestones (however uninteresting many of them were). For this reason, he was – more times than not – the man behind the camera. Though clips of him on screen are rare, you can still hear his voice. Because I can no longer immediately recall what his voice sounded like, even the smallest moments and most mundane words (such as this) can make me tear up.
